Infrastructure Projects The Village of Williamsburg has historically been very successful and aggressive in obtaining grants for various Public Works projects (i.e. road reconstruction, sewer main relining, water line upgrades, etc). These grants are awarded from sources such as the Ohio Public Works Commission and Community Development Block Grant. Many of these programs provide a percentage of the project cost and the Village is responsible for the matching portion. Recent projects included: Lytle Area Improvement Project, South 4th Street Improvement Project, Johnsboro Sewer Relining, South 2nd Street Improvement Project, Fourth Street Sewer Relining Project, Walnut Area Sewer Relining Project, North Front Street Improvement Project, and the Spring Street Improvement Project, East Main Street Water Tower, West Main Street Storm Sewer and South Broadway Sewer Relining. Current Projects: North Fourth Street Reconstruction, Phase I This project is funded in part by the Village and with a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission. North Fourth Street from Main Street to Gay Street will be fully reconstructed, with a new (slightly wider) street, curbs, gutters and new sidewalks. This will provide more and better on-street parking. We have applied for another grant to finish Phase II in 2008. Construction will begin in November 2007 and continue into the Spring. Sand Volleyball Court, Community Park Funded in part with a grant from Nature Works and with additional funding from the Village, this project will provide a sand volleyball court in our Community Park near the shelter. This project will be completed by the end of October to provide another form of recreations for our residents. Main Street Streetscape Improvements The Village was recently awarded $640,000.00 to construct and install new streetscape components (i.e. sidewalks, trees, lights, benches, curb improvements, storm water improvements, etc) along Main Street, from Broadway to the river. The tentative schedule for this project is as follows Design Process: Contract awarded to CDS Associates. First design planning meeting is scheduled for August 1, 2006 Bid Award: November 2007 Project Construction: April 2008
